Jade Wind Screen

wind in palmsFall is here. Time to put on an extra jacket to stay warm. In the same way that we naturally reach for our coats in the windy, chilly weather, we can add a layer of protection to our Vital Energy by using herbs.

Jade Wind Screen

The Chinese herbal formula, Jade Windscreen, provides that layer of protection. Now is the time for prevention of Winter colds and flu’s. This formula is great for people who tend to get every cold that floats around the office or family. The fact that you keep getting colds is a clue that you might need a little boost to your “Qi Jacket.”

Qi for health

When our Qi is abundant and flowing, we experience health.
Outside factors, such as wind, cold, and damp will not be able to get through our layer of protective Qi when our Qi is abundant and harmonious. Jade Windscreen is an herbal formula that boosts our Qi, supporting the Qi that provides protection from the elements. I call this protective Qi my “Qi Jacket” as it protects me from wind, cold, dampness, and other environmental factors.

Jade Wind ScreenJade Windscreen is a very simple and effective formula made with three herbs:

  1. Huang Qi (Astragulus root)
  2. Bai Zhu (Atractylodis macrocephalae root)
  3. Fang Feng (Saposhnikoviae root, Siler root).

Luckily, you don’t need to be able to pronounce these words in order to benefit from the herbs! Traditionally, one would get the dried herbs and cook up a pot of medicinal tea. While anyone can still do this, we are fortunate to have this formula in tablet form – making it very easy to take regardless of how busy your schedule may be.

Planetary Formulas is a wonderful herbal company using both Chinese and Western herbs. Astragulus Jade Screen is their version of the traditional Jade Windscreen formula of Chinese Medicine. It is available at many health food stores as well as online suppliers.

This is a preventive formula – which means you take it now, before getting a cold or flu!  I recommend taking this formula throughout the Fall and Winter in order to bulk up your “Qi Jacket.”
